Job summary

Dometic is seeking an Assembler for the Stuart/Port St Lucie area to provide quality products by assembling parts per instructions, reading drawings, and documenting actions in the ERP system. You will work in a Lean Manufacturing environment, performing assembly duties, wiring harnesses, and testing to meet productivity, quality, and safety targets.

The role requires a High School Diploma, ability to read schematics, and good written/spoken English.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Practical work experience in related discipline or post-secondary education.
  • Able to meet department KPI standards (productivity, quality, cost, and safety).
  • Initiate action to prevent nonconformance and take ownership of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly duties must be performed timely and accurately, in a safe manner that achieves department productivity, quality, and cost targets, all while maintaining good housekeeping using the principles of 5S.
  • Assemble electronic wire harnesses and assembly units using CAD drawings and work instructions.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, or quality system.
  • Strive to develop and implement continuous improvement into all product, process, or quality systems.
  • Ability to complete all stages of the manufacturing process including accurately counting, measuring, assembling, and testing, as well as reading and understanding work instructions and drawings.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of company property.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
  • Use hand tools, including wire crimpers, measuring tools, and drills to build assembly units.
  • Document work performed using ERP system.
  • Assemblers may be required to perform preventive maintenance and notify maintenance and/or supervisor of major issues.
  • Assemblers will be expected to resolve minor assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned

We are a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Assembler. This position reports to Production Supervisor and will work in Stuart/Port St Lucie.

About The Position

As a Assembler in the Stuart/Port St Lucie team, you will be involved in providing internal and external customers with quality products by working as a team player in a Lean Manufacturing environment. Assemblers will be required to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and prints; assemble parts per instructions; check for correct fit and functions; operate test equipment; and document actions by completing quality and production forms.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within assembly and manufacturing – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
  • Practical work experience in related discipline or post-secondary education
  • Able to meet department KPI standards (productivity, quality, cost, and safety)
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of product, process, or quality system nonconformance
  • Willingness to take ownership of manufacturing processes
  • Electrical knowledge with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to read schematics, CAD drawings, work instructions for assembly
  • Good understanding of quality control principles
  • Experience with use of hand tools including wire cutters, crimpers and drills.
  • Frequently lift up to 10 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds
  • Involves frequent standing and walking
  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety
  • Computer experience helpful
  • Ability to perform basic math skills and measurements
  • Available to work overtime, including weekends as required, which may be for extended periods
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area using the principles of 5S
Preferred Skills:
  • Troubleshooting of electronic assemblies
  • Ability to suggest and implement cost-saving ideas
  • Computer, analytical experience
  • Practical work experience operating forklifts, hand jacks and other similar warehouse equipment helpful
