The Assembler will be responsible for assembling various components in the manufacture of assemblies/sub-assemblies of various heavy-duty vehicles and specialized equipment. All Assemblers can expect to work in a collaborative production environment where teamwork and quality craftsmanship are valued.YOUR IMPACT:These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.Ability to interpret and process information through the Pro-Planner or Truck Builder System. These systems provide standard work instructions and requires the assembler to perform such requirements and confirm results back into the system.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, part lists, and written instructions to ensure accurate execution and prevent quality defectsUnderstanding of quality standards, including the ability to identify defects, trace issues to root cause, and support implementation of corrective and preventative actionsCommitment to maintaining a safe, clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures and 6S standardsWillingness to participate in equipment testing and continuous improvement efforts within assigned operationsVolterra Refuse Collector:Work cycles can be up to 4 hours in duration. The assembler must stay in sequence and be able to confirm each step of the process has been completed successfully before sending the unit to the next station.Utilize special equipment including, but not limited to all torque tools, DC tools, brake bleeders, AC chargers, cab testers, Jib and Overhead Cranes and Quality Testing Equipment.Assemble parts, wires, hoses, and hydraulics onto products utilizing safe and proper tools and techniques: install various accessories (decals, mud flaps, cameras, lights, etc.).HVAC Air Conditioners:Assemble parts and subassemblies into finished PCA systems based on work orders, detailed instructions, and engineering drawingsCheck stock and pick required materials while identifying shortages and communicating needsInstall electrical, HVAC, and mechanical components as needed to complete unitsTroubleshoot and verify product function, adjusting as requiredEnsure proper use and maintenance of tools, jigs, and fixtures during the build processdocument work and complete system transactions such as Syteline updatesMinimum Qualifications:6 months of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/GED.Experience using basic hand and power tools.Standout Qualifications:Manufacturing assembly experience.Experience training or cross-training team members.Battery Electric Vehicle assembly (Volterra).Pierce Assembly or Frame Up experience.Heavy-duty/commercial chassis assembly.HVAC, hydraulic, or electrical assembly experience.HVAC/Brazing certification or willingness to complete company-provided training (PC Air).Experience with Syteline, ManMan, or similar ERP systems.Ability to safely lift up to 35 pounds as a single-person lift.Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.May require forklift and/or overhead crane certification.Ability to obtain EPA 608 and A2L certifications (PC Air only).Key Abilities Needed to Complete Essential Functions:All positions require the ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.Perform assigned tasks consistently and accurately.Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.Recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions.Use/wear personal protective equipment as required.Hear safety alarms and co-workers.Perform basic counting and reading of tape measures, safety manuals, work orders, and blueprints.Follow supervisor and co-worker instructions.Maintain awareness of safety issues, hazards, and identify unsafe conditions.Maintain balance while walking/standing, including on slippery floors.Safely climb on portable steps, ladders, and trucks.Lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.Stand for extended periods, bend, twist, and reach as needed.Use both hands for tools and assembly tasks.Assist co-workers with heavy lifting when needed.Safely operate and use heavy equipment.Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities.
