Job summary

Allegion in Greenfield, IN is seeking an Assembler to build components and final products from blueprints and diagrams. Work schedule is Monday–Friday 3:30pm–12:00am with occasional overtime.

You will use hand tools, power tools, and machinery, inspect quality, document metrics, and maintain a safe, clean workspace. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year of assembly experience, with familiarity in lean manufacturing and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot basic assembly issues and misaligned parts.
  • Inspect products for defects using measurement tools.
  • Document production metrics and report issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and store tools properly.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions and work overtime when needed.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control to improve processes.

Job description

Assembler – Greenfield, Indiana

Standard schedule is Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am. Overtime during the week is typically 3:30pm – 2:00am and Saturdays when needed. Schedules are subject to change based on business need.

What You Will Do:
  • Assemble components, sub-assemblies, and final products by following blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools (e.g. drills, presses, soldering equipment, etc.), and machinery with proper setup and use.
  • Troubleshoot basic assembly issues, such as misaligned parts or equipment malfunctions.
  • Inspect products for defects and conduct quality checks to ensure the products meet quality standards using measurement tools (e.g., rulers, tape measures, calipers, micrometers).
  • Document production metrics, performance, and any issues encountered during assembly.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, use PPE, and report potential hazards.
  • Perform basic equipment checks (e.g., ensuring tools are operational).
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control to address challenges and improve processes.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to report issues and provide updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and store tools and equipment properly.
  • Follow step‑by‑step written or verbal instructions.
  • Be flexible by working overtime, cross‑training, and adapting to new processes or technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months to 1 year of assembly experience.
  • Familiarity with assembly techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and testing equipment effectively.
  • Ability to produce parts and products to meet quality standards.
  • Ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.
  • 1+ years of assembly experience.
  • Familiarity with assembly techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to handle parts and tools with precision.
  • Perform repetitive motions (bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands).
  • Standing Duration: Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes.
