Job summary

Wabash is seeking an assembler to perform a variety of tasks on the production floor. Responsibilities include installing subassemblies, component parts, and decals, as well as operating rivet punchers and applying flooring per specifications.

Training is provided; pre-employment drug screening is required. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and meeting delivery objectives in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic reading, writing, & verbal skills.
  • Experience and education are a plus; however, it’s not required. Wabash provides training for all assembler positions.

Responsibilities

  • Own and help improve safety, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Keep the work area free of hazards and maintain clean workspaces.
  • Measure, cut, and caulk materials as needed.
  • Install truck bed flooring and accessories per specs.
  • Follow decal templates and blueprints.
  • Install signs, reflectors, fenders, mud flaps, and other parts.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or coordinator.
  • Wear required PPE and follow safety rules at all times.

Assemblers perform a variety of tasks at Wabash that vary from location to location. Assemblers are responsible for tasks such as installing subassemblies, assembling component parts, operating rivet punchers, and installing decals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

  • Owning and helping improve our performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
  • Keeping the work area free of any potential work hazards
  • Measuring, cutting and caulking materials
  • Installing truck bed flooring
  • Following decal templates & blueprints
  • Installing signs, reflectors, fenders, mud flaps, and other associated parts
  • Performing additional work assigned by the supervisor or coordinator, which may require the employee to assist in different departments)
  • Wearing approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, respirators, hearing protection, etc.
  • Completing assigned duties in accordance with safety, policies, and practices, including your individual safety, as well as the safety of co-workers, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Experience and education are a plus; however, it’s not required. Wabash provides training for all assembler positions. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you’ll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, as well as moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites where the noise level can be very loud with high temperatures at times. Physical Demands:

As an Assembler, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the entirety of their shift. The employee needs full range of motion in arms and hands, all assemblers must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some assemblers also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
