Job summary

Mead Lumber is hiring a Truss Assembler in Wyoming to join a production team constructing roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels. You will perform hands-on assembly on a production line following specifications and safety procedures.

Pay is $19.00 per hour, experience-based. The role emphasizes teamwork, meeting productivity goals, and adherence to industry standards in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in truss or panel plant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Review layout and cut sheets for correct materials and sizes.
• Set up jigs with team members for each truss in pre-production.
• Apply plate sizes per CAD specifications during assembly.
• Verify heel height, seat cuts, depths, spans and squareness.
• Assemble trusses with the assigned team and maintain productivity.
• Stack and bundle trusses; verify orders and move finished products to the yard.
• Maintain a clean job site and restock supplies.
• Report to the Plant Manager; no direct reports.

Job Summary:

The Truss Assembler works as part of a production team to construct roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels. This position performs hands‑on assembly and fabrication of components on a production line while following specifications, quality standards, and established safety procedures.

Pay for this Role:

$19.00 per hour depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Review engineering layout and cut sheets to verify the correct wood materials, lengths, grade and size.
• Correctly set up the jig with team members for each specific truss in pre-production.
• Apply the correct plate sizes during assembly per computer aided design (CAD) software.
• Check quality of product and verify critical specifications such as heel height, seat cuts, depths, spans and squareness of the truss.
• Assemble the truss with the assigned team.
• Plan and pace work to equal the lead assembler.
• Achieve daily, weekly, project and team related productivity goals as determined by Production Management.
• Ensure all components comply with required standards from the Truss Plate Institute (TPI) and other relevant regulatory agencies.
• Stack and bundle all trusses;
  • Verify all orders are correctly marked.
  • Move finished products to the yard and assemble bundling blocks.
• Maintain a clean job site:
  • Collect all tools and equipment.
  • Secure job site to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Restock connector plates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
• Reports to the Plant Manager. Does not have any direct reports.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, And Qualifications

• Lift heavy objects up to 75lbs or more, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Bend, push, pull, twist and squat frequently. Use hammer and nail guns frequently during the shift, climb and descend from elevated tables frequently.
• Correctly read a tape measure to the sixteenth of an inch quickly and with no errors.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work including; nail gun, hammer, forklift, press machine, tape measure and saws.
• High School diploma or any combination of education or experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. Previous experience of one year working in a truss or panel plant preferred or framing residential buildings.
• Solid work history with a proven track record of successes in framing residential or commercial buildings. Must understand construction industry and culture. Concrete work, grain bin construction or specific types of landscaping may be helpful as well.
• Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions. Be coachable by team members and leadership.
• Supply basic hand tools: measuring tape (25 ft. or more) and a framing hammer (20 oz. or larger).
• Operate with a team in a fast‑paced and loud environment.
