NeoGenomics Laboratories in Aliso Viejo, CA seeks an Assay Development Scientist to advance assay design and validation across Sanger sequencing, PCR, and NGS workflows.

You will work in a regulated lab with hands-on wet-lab work and data interpretation, delivering high-quality sequencing results for internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. preferred in cancer genomics or related field.
• Experience with Sanger sequencing, PCR, and NGS workflows required.
• Ability to analyze sequencing data and interpret results with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and validate primers/probes for Sanger sequencing, PCR, and NGS applications.
• Hands-on execution of wet-lab testing for Sanger, PCR, and NGS workflows.
• Analyze and interpret sequencing data using platforms such as Sequencher, SeqScape, Gene Mapper, Innovigene data analysis suites, and others.
• Perform variant calling, alignment review, and quality assessment for Sanger and NGS datasets.
• Identify and troubleshoot data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Support assay development, RUO/LDT validations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports/summaries of sequencing results for internal teams and/or external stakeholders.

Position Summary: As a Scientist you will apply your deep expertise in assay design and validation, with experience in Sanger sequencing, PCR-based testing, and next-generation sequencing (NGS), along with extensive hands-on experience in sequencing data analysis and interpretation.
