The Laborer is an entry-level position whose primary responsibility is to assist the on-site project team in keeping the jobsite running smoothly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweeping shop floor, keeping work areas uncluttered at all times.
- Weekly janitorial duties in shop and offices.
- Clean debris/snow from sidewalk, stairs, etc.
- Load and unload project materials.
- Move materials, tools, and equipment to and from various areas on the jobsite.
- Palletizing materials for shipment and material handling.
- Perform minor repairs to building fixtures, and perform touch-up painting.
- Assist in maintaining the building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
- Periodically inventory supplies and equipment.
- Work safely and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Support ACHC safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Strong understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

- Basic math skills for calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to interpret data such as bar graphs.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Problem-solving skills involving several variables in standardized situations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Current Medical Card.
- Prior construction industry experience preferred.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Capable of working outside in cold temperatures.
- Ability to follow directions from co-workers and supervisors.
- Perform various construction and maintenance tasks.
- Basic math skills for calculations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands are representative of those needed to perform the essential functions safely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The environment is a busy construction site with variable noise levels. Employees may be exposed to weather conditions and required to travel by aircraft.
