Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate certification.
• Experience in the area assigned preferred.
• Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for the grade level.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds toward educational goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned to state standards.
• Prepare for and participate in IEP and evaluation meetings for students with disabilities.
• Develop a scheme of work, assessments, and grading per procedures.
• Establish clear learning objectives for all activities.
• Prepare the classroom for class activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
• Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet diverse needs.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support instruction.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Encourage and monitor progress of individual students.
• Administer tests and interpret results to benefit students.
• Maintain accurate records of students' progress and development.
• Update records as required by law and district policies.
• Prepare required reports on students and activities.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom per school rules.
• Participate in school and system-sponsored activities.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and staff.
• Attend department and school meetings and parent meetings.
• Stay updated with developments in the subject area and apply changes.
• Participate in Special Education trainings and learning opportunities.
• Adhere to the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics.
