Job summary

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township in Indianapolis is seeking a Child Nutrition Manager in Training to support daily cafeteria operations and learn the skills to advance to a managerial role.

This full-time position offers an hourly rate of $19.50, with additional compensation for college degree, plus medical, dental, vision and life insurance, paid illness and personal days, seven paid holidays, district retirement contributions (VEBA and 401A).

Qualifications

• Four key areas of Nutrition, Operations, Administration and Communication/Marketing will be taught and expected to be mastered to promote to a manager position once one becomes available.
• Ability to make sound decisions, deal with stressful situations, and maintain interpersonal relationships in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to supervise personnel.
• Knowledge of health and safety codes and sanitary principles including HACCP.
• Possess excellent cash handling skills and knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principals and be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cafeteria manager in planning, organizing and coordinating daily cafeteria operations.
• Learn the skills necessary to become an effective manager at any level.
• Demonstrate professionalism and provide friendly service.
• Interact with students, parents, and staff in a professional manner.
• Maintain inventory control and basic record keeping.
