Job summary

KIPP Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Principal in Residence to join a two-year residency developing leaders for high-performing schools. You will coach teachers, deans, and leaders, and contribute to vision, planning, and culture across campuses.

The program emphasizes mentorship, on-the-job learning, and leadership development aligned to Chicago’s competencies. Illinois license and CPS background checks are required or anticipated. Compensation is competitive.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an assistant principal or equivalent (Required).
• Five years of teaching and school-level instructional experience.
• Active Illinois Teaching License (PEL) or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Model and support implementation of the school’s vision and goals.
• Contribute to school-wide planning and prioritize time to accomplish goals.
• Develop teachers and emerging leaders with guidance from School Leader.
• Model strong staff and student culture and manage school-wide behavioral systems.
• Collaborate with School Leader to hire and retain diverse, effective staff.
• Build content knowledge across curriculum and assessments.
• Develop and coach teachers with high-quality instructional feedback.
• Demonstrate personal leadership traits and growth mindset.
