Job summary

Ames High School in Ames, Iowa is seeking an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach for the 2026-27 season. The role involves supporting the Head Coach, coaching athletes, and ensuring positive conduct during practices and games.

Work hours are 2-3 hours per day, 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with additional evenings/weekends as needed. Competitive stipend is provided for the season, and the district emphasizes professional growth, collaboration, and a supportive community culture within Ames

Qualifications

A current Iowa Department of Education coaching authorization.
Experience coaching at the youth, middle school, or high school level preferred.

Responsibilities

Supports the Head Coach while instructing athletes about the fundamentals of soccer.
Attends all practices and has the ability to coach at an individual, small group and team level.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Communicates effectively with coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
Participates in special events including banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
Abides by strict confidentiality at all times.
Assists with other duties as assigned.
