Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, CA is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to lead daily golf course maintenance under the direction of the Superintendent. The role focuses on enhancing course conditioning, staff development, and operational efficiency while upholding the club’s renowned presentation standards.

Ideal candidates will have an associate degree in Turfgrass Management and 4–7 years of maintenance experience, with strong agronomy knowledge and irrigation expertise.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Turfgrass Management or related field.
• 4–7 years of golf course maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience supervising and developing team members.
• Strong understanding of golf course agronomy and cultural practices.
• Knowledge of irrigation system operation and water management principles.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain any required state pesticide applicator licenses.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to pursuing a long‑term career as a Golf Course Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in planning, organizing, and directing all golf course maintenance operations.
• Lead and supervise daily maintenance activities while maintaining the club's high standards.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members through hands‑on leadership.
• Monitor turf health and implement sound agronomic practices across all playing surfaces.
• Assist with irrigation management using the Rain Bird irrigation system.
• Coordinate daily staff assignments and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
• Support pesticide and fertilizer applications in accordance with all regulations and best management practices.
• Maintain detailed records related to agronomic programs, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
• Help prepare the golf course for member play and club events while maintaining exceptional presentation.
• Work collaboratively with the Superintendent to develop long‑term agronomic strategies and support future capital improvement projects.
• Foster a culture centered on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Promote a safe working environment while following all club policies and industry best practices.
