Job summary

Florida Blacktop Inc. in South Florida is seeking an experienced Asphalt Screed Operator / Lute Technician to join our paving crew.

You will operate the screed on an asphalt paver, perform lute and rake work, manage mat thickness and joints, and help ensure high-quality roadway and parking lot surfaces.

The role requires hands-on skills, ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, and the stamina for outdoor field work across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Qualifications

• Experience working on an asphalt paving crew.
• Hands-on experience operating the screed on an asphalt paver.
• Strong knowledge of electronic and sonic grade-control systems.
• Ability to use a level and perform paving-layout and grade calculations.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to meet company driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate the screed on an asphalt paver during roadway, parking lot, patching, and commercial paving projects.
• Set and adjust screed controls to maintain elevation, slope, width, thickness, and surface quality.
• Use grade-control systems, sonic controls, levels, stringlines, and paving references.
• Monitor material head, asphalt flow, mat thickness, temperature, speed, and overall paving consistency.
• Assist with general crew duties including shoveling, cleanup, and hand finishing as needed.
