Job summary

APAC-AL, Inc. is seeking a skilled Screed Operator to control and manage the screed on an asphalt paving machine in a heavy‑duty paving environment.

The role requires familiarity with material distribution, depths, and machine efficiency on road projects in Alabama. The ideal candidate will have experience with asphalt paving processes, ability to read instructions and perform basic math for measurements, and a readiness to perform routine maintenance while coordinating with supervisors on

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for mix and depth calculations.

This is a highly skilled position involving control and operation of the screed on an asphalt paving machine. Prior experience of actual Sceed Operation preferred. The perfect applicant will have Topcon 5 Electronics experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prior experience operating the Screed on an Asphalt Paving Machine preferred
• Operator will control material taken into the paver and the depths of material distributed through the machine
• Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
• The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
