Preferred Materials - Asphalt Division, part of CRH South Division of Companies, is a leader in high-quality hot mix and warm mix asphalt production. With a team of skilled professionals, the division offers design-build and conventional-bid-build solutions for roadway and civil construction projects. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with offices throughout Florida, we perform asphalt paving, grading, and related roadway services. Our employees foster a strong safety culture, emphasizing personal responsibility for safety.

We are seeking a Trainee Quality Control Technician to join our team in South Florida, including Fort Myers, Naples, and Nokomis. The Trainee will learn to perform routine testing of Hot Mix Asphalt and assist in adjusting plant settings to ensure compliance with specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Performing daily QC testing on Hot Mix Asphalt as required by governing agencies and the QC Manager.
  2. Sample collection.
  3. Data collection and reporting.
  4. Assisting in mix design development and changes in plant production.
  5. Stockpile analysis on incoming aggregates and RAP stockpiles as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to perform strenuous work.
  • Basic materials skills.
  • Good penmanship, record keeping, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Effective communication over the company radio.

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, multiplication, percentages, weights).
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
  • Ability to use measuring devices.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license for the territory of operation.
  • FDOT Asphalt Level I & II training preferred but not required.
