Asphalt Plant Operator-PO0824

Location: Charleston, SC 29406

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a Plant Operator to support asphalt plant operations. Our asphalt plants are vital to our success in the industry, operating across the tri-county area with three facilities.

Role and Responsibilities

• Manufacture asphalt products per mix design, customer specifications, and DOT standards.
• Perform pre- and post-shift inspections; operate controls to batch materials.
• Read/write delivery tickets; perform load calculations.
• Load Hot Mix Asphalt into trucks; issue delivery tickets as needed.
• Operate loader to supply materials; communicate with dispatch and drivers.
• Manage inventory of materials like oil, fuel, and lime.
• Work in various weather conditions and environments.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards; report safety concerns.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including SBCC’s Lock-out/Tag-out policies.
• Assist in preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Comply with DHEC regulations.

Qualifications and Education

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of equipment operation and capabilities.
• Ability to recognize products and understand plant operation.
• Basic computer skills.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; work at heights up to 100 feet.
• Ability to stand, kneel, or sit for extended periods.
• Basic math skills.
• Negative drug test prior to hire and ongoing.
• Background checks as per company standards.
• Flexible availability, including overtime, weekends, and nights.
• Tolerance for weather conditions and exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience in asphalt plant repair and maintenance.
• Ability to cut, weld, and fabricate.
• Skill in troubleshooting and using hand and power tools.
