Asphalt Plant Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor automated asphalt plant control systems to produce asphalt paving materials

Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

Assists in maintenance and repair of plant equipment (use of various hand tools, sledge hammer, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill).

Must be able to climb stairs/ladders to top of plant.

Willing to travel and work away from home when required.

Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Willing to work in various climate conditions, both hot and cold.

Report to work at the designated start time.

Able to work overtime when required.

Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One (1) Year Related Experience Is Preferred.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft operating systems.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Ability to work various shifts (days, nights, swings)

HEAVY LIFTING - of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to75 lbs. from floor to waist

AWKWARD POSITIONS - getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground

FLEXIBILITY - awkward reaches

BALANCE - including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.

VISION - 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions

HEARING - corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
