Job description

Position Overview

This is a skilled position responsible for controlling production and load out of materials produced in plants. The role primarily operates in the Montgomery area. The plant operator ensures the efficient functioning of plant equipment and performs minor servicing and maintenance, referring major issues to the supervisor.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct preliminary walk-around surveys of plant’s crushing equipment to identify maintenance issues, preventive maintenance needs, worn parts, emissions controls, and housekeeping concerns. Operate levers to regulate material flow.
2. Successfully initiate and manage the plant’s start-up and shutdown procedures. Navigate computer systems for troubleshooting, reporting, and communication. Ensure safety for all crew members and the public at the job site.
3. Monitor critical gauges and computer data to maximize productivity while preserving plant assets.
4. Assist in preventive maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and cleaning tasks.
5. Support other operators or maintenance staff with heavy or awkward duties.
6. Communicate effectively across all organizational levels regarding plant operations, issues, and improvements. Provide accurate, timely updates on daily performance. Be proactive in troubleshooting and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.
