Job summary

Mountain Enterprises Inc. in Kentucky is seeking Seasonal Production Workers to help control production and load out of materials produced in plants. The plant operator role involves ensuring efficient plant operation, basic maintenance, and data entry.

Experience with asphalt operations is helpful and training is available for the right candidate. Responsibilities include reading schedules, operating the plant, monitoring mix quality, welding if needed, and overseeing truck scales and data

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; 1–2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50-75 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Read work schedules and determine sequence of operations.
  • Operate plant according to production schedule using appropriate materials.
  • Monitor material operation to ensure quality of mix.
  • Perform basic maintenance and service on plant as required.
  • Welding experience preferred (arc welder or cutting torch).
  • Clean control house and yard facility daily.
  • Oversee truck scales and loading of trucks.
  • Enter production information into computer systems.
  • All other duties as assigned per supervisor.

This is a skilled position controlling production and load out of materials produced in plants. The plant operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of plant equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

Mountain Companies will train the right person as a plant operator if you have some experience around an asphalt plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reads work schedules and determines sequence of operations.
  • Operates plant according to production schedule using appropriate materials.
  • Monitor material operation to ensure quality of mix.
  • Performs basic maintenance and service on plant as required.
  • Ability to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch is preferred.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems; uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.
