United Companies, a CRH Company, is hiring an Asphalt Plant Loader Operator for the Grand Junction, CO area. You will operate a front-end loader to keep a steady supply of materials to the asphalt plant, trucks, and processing zones, ensuring efficient production.

Wage ranges from $22 to $26 per hour, depending on experience. Applicants must pass pre-employment checks and comply with safety requirements; nights and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of loader/operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure material supply for the asphalt plant is available.
  • Operate a loader to move materials to/from storage and processing areas.
  • Load trucks with correct materials and weights for delivery.
  • Inspect loader and safety equipment prior to use.
  • Perform routine loader maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning).
  • Maintain plant cleanliness and safety; assist with grounds and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with general plant labor as needed.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance.
  • Be available to travel with portable asphalt plant as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Asphalt Plant Loader Operator- Grand Junction, CO (Construction)

Position Overview

Operates a front-end loader to ensure proper supply of materials to the asphalt plant, trucks, and other assigned areas.

Wage ranges from $22 to $26 an hour, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Ensure necessary supply of materials for asphalt plant is available.
  • Utilize a loader to transport materials to and from storage and processing areas.
  • Load trucks with proper materials and weight for delivery.
  • Inspect equipment prior to operation for any safety or maintenance issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of plant premises including but not limited to assisting with plant maintenance, shoveling, and grounds cleanup.
  • Assist with general labor at the plant site.
  • Regular, timely attendance is required.
  • Availability to travel with portable asphalt plant is required
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a loader operator or other heavy equipment operation preferred.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and/or criminal background check.
  • Report to the work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated production areas. Compliance with PPE requirements is essential.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of general maintenance skills and tools.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient and perform tasks and duties without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • Ability to utilize simple computer systems, tablet/phone apps and/or two-way radios.
Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, rotating of the neck and shoulders.
  • Frequent sitting and operating heavy equipment/loader.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to manipulate or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist at the waist, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Work Environment

Employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; The risk of electrical shock or burn and working at heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
