Job summary

APAC Atlantic, Inc., Asheville Division is seeking a crew member to keep the asphalt plant running at efficient levels, assisting with loading, shoveling, and maintenance. You will follow safety policies and work with foreman to meet daily production targets.

The role requires ability to work 8–12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends, willingness to travel to plants as needed, and a valid driver's license; prior construction experience and equipment familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school education of GED preferred but not required.
• Articulating equipment experience required.
• Basic electrical/mechanical skills preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in construction field is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Must partner with other plant employees to maintain plant operations as instructed by plant foreman to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
• Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
• Attendance required according to Company Attendance Policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
• Assist plant crew with various duties such as shoveling, loading equipment and general maintenance and upkeep of plant.
• May be required to use power and/or hand tools such as shovel, rake, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer/drill, tamps (both manual and power driven), sledge hammer and other tools associated with laborer.
• Dig, spread and level construction materials.
• Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
• Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks at plant.
• Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
• Ability to stockpile using loader with attention to supplying plant with raw materials in a safe and efficient manner.
• May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustment to equipment.
