Job summary

Walbec Group invites you to join our Asphalt Plant Summer 2027 Internship in Wisconsin. You will gain hands-on experience with production activities, material handling, and safety procedures under seasoned mentors.

Pursuing a degree in civil, mechanical, or mining engineering, construction management, geology, or related field, you will learn about plant processes, QA, inventory, and documentation, with opportunities to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil / Mechanical / Mining Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related field.
• Must be safety oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• AutoCAD or similar design software experience.
• Ability to travel locally and regionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily plant production activities and material handling.
• Observe and learn asphalt plant processes and QA procedures.
• Track production information, materials, and inventory.
• Collect material samples and observe quality control.
• Support equipment tracking, site documentation, and inventory organization.
• Shadow operators and foreman to gain hands-on exposure.

Position

The Position: Our team of talented and tenured mentors will provide you with the on-the-job experience needed as you look to your future after graduation. We invite you to explore the opportunities our diverse family of construction companies can provide. Participate in plant safety meetings and follow safety procedures while on job sites. Participate and assist in site safety audits. Support day-to-day operations at an asphalt plant by assisting with production activities and material handling. Observe and assist with asphalt plant processes, including how materials are produced, stockpiled and loaded. Assist with tracking production information, materials, and inventory. Help collect material samples and observe quality control and plant performance. Support manufacturing related projects such as equipment tracking, site documentation and inventory organization. Shadow plant operators and foreman to gain hands on exposure to asphalt manufacturing operations.

Candidate

The Candidate: Currently pursuing a degree in Civil / Mechanical / Mining Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related field. Must be safety oriented. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to travel locally and regionally. Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills by prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently. AutoCAD or similar design software experience.
