Job summary

C-Rae Materials is seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team. This role will operate plant controls, monitor material flow and temperatures, oversee the loading of finished asphalt into trucks, and assist with maintenance to keep production running smoothly and safely.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, good attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Flexibility for overtime and outdoor work is expected.

Qualifications

• Previous asphalt plant operating and maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Experience with different drum systems and plant controls preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and adjust plant controls to maintain production quality.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
• Ability to stay focused and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt plant controls to weigh, feed, and mix aggregates and asphalt cement according to production requirements.
• Monitor and adjust dryer temperatures, material flow, and plant settings to maintain consistent product quality.
• Oversee the loading of finished asphalt into trucks.
• Assist with plant inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
• Complete daily production and maintenance reports, documenting output and equipment issues.
• Use hand tools and maintenance equipment, including wrenches, shovels, cutting torches, welders, and pneumatic tools, as trained and authorized.
• Answer telephone and radio communications, receive material orders, and enter order information as needed.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Schedule

• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, reach, and work in varied positions throughout the shift.

• Availability to work overtime and occasional nights and weekends to meet production needs.
