Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of asphalt paving experience.
• Experience leading field crews in paving or heavy civil operations.
• Ability to read project specifications, schedules, and production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily asphalt paving operations safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Plan manpower, equipment, trucking logistics, and material requirements.
• Promote safety culture; ensure OSHA/MSHA compliance and CRH safety programs.
• Coordinate production with plant, trucking, and operations teams.
• Monitor crew performance, equipment usage, and paving quality.
• Coach and mentor employees on paving techniques and safe practices.
• Hold daily safety meetings and document safety activities.
• Oversee equipment inspections and maintenance; coordinate repairs.
• Manage employee schedules, time reporting, and workforce planning.
• Maintain production records and project documentation.

This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily paving operations, ensuring a safe work environment, driving productivity, and developing crew members while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

As the Asphalt Paving Foreperson, you will:

• Lead and direct daily asphalt paving operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Plan and organize work activities, manpower, equipment, trucking logistics, and material requirements.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and CRH safety programs.
• Coordinate daily production activities with asphalt plant, trucking, and operations teams to ensure seamless material delivery and jobsite execution.
• Monitor crew performance, equipment utilization, and paving quality to maximize productivity and project success.
• Coach, train, and mentor employees on proper paving techniques, equipment operation, maintenance, and safe work practices.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety documentation requirements.
• Oversee equipment inspections and maintenance needs, coordinating repairs as necessary.
• Manage employee schedules, time reporting, and workforce planning.
• Maintain accurate production records, daily reports, and project documentation.
• Build strong working relationships with operations leadership, customers, and support teams.
• Assist with hands-on paving and labor activities when needed.
• Communicate project updates, challenges, and opportunities to the Asphalt Paving & Milling Superintendent.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of asphalt paving experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading field crews in paving, road construction, or heavy civil operations.
• Strong understanding of paving operations, production planning, and equipment utilization.
• Working knowledge of OSHA/MSHA safety regulations and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and understand project specifications, schedules, and production requirements.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous foreperson, lead operator, or supervisory experience.
• Experience coordinating trucking, asphalt plant production, and paving operations.
• Familiarity with DOT specifications and roadway construction projects.
