Job summary

Baldwin Paving Company is seeking an Asphalt Luteman with at least one year of experience to join our Georgia-based crew. This is a full-time position reporting to the Site Foreman and may require nights or weekends in addition to day shifts.

You will perform physical labor on a paving crew, helping ensure that asphalt is poured and distributed correctly, and you will assist the Screed Operator to maintain grade. The job emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as an Asphalt Luteman or similar role.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Rake asphalt to grade and finish before compaction.
• Match and finish joints in freshly laid asphalt.
• Smooth and adjust surface irregularities to restore finish.
• Assist the Screed Operator with maintaining grade and extensions.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking for an Asphalt Luteman, with at least one year of experience to join our team. This will be a full-time role. This position reports to the Site Foreman. Nights and/or weekends may be required in addition to regular day shifts.

General Summary of the Position

Performs physical labor on a paving crew, helping to ensure that asphalt is poured and distributed in the right manner.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned as needed):

• Rake asphalt to proper grade and finish before compaction.
• Match and finish freshly made asphalt paving joints.
• Smooth and adjust surface irregularities in asphalt to restore surface finish.
• Assist the Screed Operator with maintaining the grade and screed extensions.
• Other duties as needed.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• An employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust, etc.
• Employees will work outdoors and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain, etc.

Physical Demands:

• The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to adjust and/or minor maintenance.
• Will use hands, arms, back and shoulders in handling, installing, positioning, and moving items, and manipulating other objects.
• Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

Other Requirements:

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work and follow verbal and written instructions.
