Join Ten Mile Paving as an Asphalt Laborer/Operator in Washington, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with Asphalt Paving projects, operating Paving Equipment and ensuring quality workmanship on every job site. Willing to train motivated applicants. Starting rate at $22/hr combined with an extra "Paving" rate totaling $30/hr when laying "hot mix" asphalt. - Year-round work opportunities in other divisions of the company available during winter months.
Responsibilities
- Thorough Operational knowledge (preferred) of various types of asphalt paving equipment including but not limited to; all aspects of an asphalt paver, rollers, skid steers and attachments, milling machine, and various tack and tarring machines.
- Prepare, maintain and clean job sites to ensure efficient workflow. This will include removing and properly disposing of debris and waste material.
- Candidates must be willing to shovel, rake and finish asphalt materials on construction projects, this may include concrete, dirt and/or other aggregates.
- Assist in placement, displacement, and moving various traffic control devices, this may include assisting in traffic control patterns on construction site.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within quality standards.
- Use PPE while on jobsite e.g. hard hat safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.
- Always be aware of safety issues, maintain a safe work environment and makes supervisor aware of any issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned, this may include assisting other divisions of the company when necessary.
- Take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done. Show abilities and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.
Requirements
- Experience in asphalt paving and/or road construction preferred.
- Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and criminal background check.
- Have a valid drivers license.
- Ability to maintain a Medical Examiner's Certificate for DOT vehicles.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to customers, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
- Capability to work in all weather conditions.
- Report to work at the designated start time.

Environment
This position will require working outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, with occasional periods of time exposed to machine noise.
