Knife River Corporation is seeking an Asphalt Paving Laborer in the United States. The role involves operating pavers, screeds, rollers and related equipment, along with raking, shoveling, and other labor duties on asphalt paving crews.

Responsibilities include material handling, equipment maintenance, and assisting with traffic control. Candidates should be able to work long hours in all weather and collaborate with a team while adhering to safety policies.

• Spread and compact asphalt paving.
• Smooth out stone or concrete using attachments.
• Ensure machines are well-oiled, serviced, inspected.
• Provide equipment cleanup as needed.
• Operate tamping machines or manual rolling to finish roads.
• Guide dump trucks to maintain asphalt flow.
• Assist with traffic control devices and flagging.
• Drive or attach machines onto trailers.
• Other duties as needed.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Knife River has excellent opportunities for an Asphalt Paving Laborer. Our asphalt paving crews consist of the following - operation of pavers, screeds, rollers, distributors, as well as raking and shoveling of asphalt and other laboring duties.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

• Operate heavy equipment related to asphalt paving.
• Place, shovel and rake materials with hand tools.
• Lift and carry tools and supplies.
• Control and guide machine to lay asphalt.
• Fill tanks or hoppers with paving materials.
• Light burners on machines and regulate screed temperatures.
• Spread and compact asphalt paving.
• Smooth out stone or concrete using special attachments.
• Ensure all machines are well-oiled, serviced, and inspected.
• Provide equipment cleanup as needed.
• Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to compact and finish road materials, according to specifications.
• Guide dump trucks to maintain flow of asphalt into hoppers.
• Guide operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
• Assist with flagging to direct motorists away from the work zone.
• Drive or attach machines onto tractor trailers.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a construction laborer is preferred.
• Experience with construction machinery is helpful.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is preferred.
