Georgia Piedmont Technical College is seeking a full-time ASN/Medical-Surgical instructor to teach in the Practical Nursing and ASN programs at the Newton County campus. Qualifications

  • MSN from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current Georgia license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • 3+ years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care (OB, Pediatrics, Med-Surg, ED, Trauma).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications by the American Heart Association.
  • Teaching experience in postsecondary or technical college education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in nursing; OB, Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.
  • Develop and revise curriculum, syllabi, and assessments to accrediting standards.
  • Maintain records of student performance, attendance, and evaluations.
  • Advise and mentor students throughout their academic journey.
  • Participate in program accreditation, evaluation, and improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate with clinical affiliates and supervise practicum.
  • May teach at additional sites or within the local community.
  • Oversee practicum evaluation and student preparedness.
  • Participate in college-wide activities and professional development.

The instructor will report to the Dean of Allied Health and is responsible for delivering quality instruction, participating in curriculum development, and ensuring student learning and clinical competency. A flexible schedule is necessary, as classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekends.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in various nursing specialties including OB, Pediatrics, Emergency, and Trauma.Develop and revise curriculum materials, syllabi, and assessments to align with program and accrediting standards.Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and evaluations.Advise and mentor students throughout their academic journey.Participate in program accreditation, evaluation, and improvement efforts.Coordinate with clinical affiliates and ensure student preparedness and supervision.Participate in college-wide activities, committees, and professional development opportunities.May be required to teach at additional sites or within the local community.Select and approve appropriate practicum sites. Ensure appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement in the practicum experience.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must possess and demonstrate the following:Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.Current Georgia license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Minimum of three (3) years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care, including but not limited to OB, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical, Emergency, or Trauma settings.Excellent understanding of human pathophysiology.Current certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart AssociationAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart AssociationThree or more years, within the last seven of full-time, in-field work experience in medical assisting, medical assisting education, or a related healthcare field. Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels the instructor will be expected to teach.Must have at least 40 hours of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by medical assistants.Must have teaching experience in postsecondary and/or technical college education.Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSDoctoral degree in Nursing or Education (PhD, DNP, EdD).Four (4) or more years of full-time experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, OB, Pediatrics, Emergency, or Acute Patient Care.Minimum of one (1) year full-time teaching experience in an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing program.Experience with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies.
