Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group is seeking a Welder II to inspect, repair, and qualify spirally welded cylinders to exacting standards. You will use air carbon arc gouging for defect removal, square ends with oxy-fuel, and polish as needed, all while meeting tight dimensional specs.

You’ll perform 3G FCAW welds, read blueprints, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions. This in-person role requires dedication to safety, quality, and teamwork in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Air carbon arc gouging proficiency is required.
• Pass a 3G weld test with back gouge and back weld using FCAW.
• Consistently meet ASME Section VIII, UW-51 (100% RT X-Ray) criteria with a 92% acceptance rate.
• Blueprint reading and production welding setups.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect interior/exterior spiral seams and base metal to bring cylinders into spec.
• Execute repairs to AWWA C200 and other job specs.
• Document repairs and dimensions with precision to 1/32".
• Maintain equipment and station cleanliness; report to crew lead/supervisor.
