Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group is seeking a Welder III for 1st shift at our Rialto, California facility. The role focuses on inspecting interior and exterior of spirally welded cylinders, performing repairs to meet specifications, and ensuring dimensional accuracy to the nearest 32nd of an inch.

The ideal candidate will be FCAW-weld qualified for fittings and pipe, capable of minor maintenance, and able to work under supervision within a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • FCAW welding experience on fittings and pipes required.
  • Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret dimensional requirements and tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect interior and exterior of spirally welded cylinders for defects; perform repairs per specs.
  • Use oxyacetylene torch to square ends and repair cylinders as needed.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools; keep workstation clean and safe.
  • Follow safety rules and report to crew leader or supervisor.
  • Communicate repair metrics and dimensions accurately to the team.

Thompson Pipe Group is currently looking for a Welder III 1st Shift

This person willbe responsible forthe interior and exterior of every spirally welded cylinder that enters their designated station for welding defects, base metal defects, and dimensional tolerances and repairs those cylinders to meet specification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Inspections the entire interior and an exterior surface of spirally welded cylinders and perform repairs in compliance with AWWA C200 andadditionaljob specifications asrequired.
  • Reports repairs and dimensional measurements accurately of cylinders to the nearest 32nd of an inch.
  • Utilize oxyacetylene cutting torch to square cylinder ends and perform repairs as needed.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs to welding equipment and tools.
  • Mustproperly usetools and care for equipment provided by the company to complete job tasks.
  • Maintain workstation by keeping it clean, organized, free from clutter and trip hazards.
  • Work under generalsupervision;will report to a crew leader and/or supervisor.

  • Reports repairs and dimensional measurements accurately of cylinders to the nearest 32nd of an inch.
  • Utilize oxyacetylene cutting torch to square cylinder ends and perform repairs as needed.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs to welding equipment and tools.
  • Mustproperly usetools and care for equipment provided by the company to complete job tasks.
  • Maintain workstation by keeping it clean, organized, free from clutter and trip hazards.

  • An improperly illuminated or awkward and confining workspace
  • Working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (i.e.on ladders, rooftops, bucket trucks, scaffolding)
  • Loud (examples: metal can manufacture department, large earth-moving equipment)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required tostand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employeeis repeatedly required toclimb vertical ladders.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds,frequentlylift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee mustregularly apply75-foot-pounds of torque in the assembly, dismantling, erection, and installation ofvarious typesof structures, tank jig, scaffolding, etc.
  • Regularly swings a 10-pound hammer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
