Job summary

The Washington Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth (CDHY) is seeking an On-Call Paraeducator at the Vancouver, WA campus. This school year-based role provides coverage for staff absences and supports instructional activities and student well-being.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson plans, modeling professional behavior, and reporting safety or learning concerns, with telework not available. Candidates must be ASL-fluent and ready to work Pre-K through 12th grade.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluency in ASL and written English.
• Strong knowledge of Deaf culture.
• Ability to cover staff absences on short notice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing and able to work with students from Pre-K–12th grade.
• Willing and able to adapt to assignment changes.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be willing to work outside and travel to field trip locations.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction and supervision of students in classroom, job environments, and field trips.
• Modifies instruction to meet individual learning needs and supports comprehension.
• Supervises and corrects student behavior per individual plans.
• Administers tests and assists with assessments.
• Participates in meetings to support student learning and wellness.
• Demonstrates professional interactions and builds positive relationships with students.
