Qualifications

• Fluent American Sign Language and spoken English with accurate interpreting skills.
• Pass internal interpreting assessment.
• 20 hours per week on VRS platform between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Mon–Fri.
• Associates degree in Business Management or related experience; Bachelor’s preferred.
• At least three years of supervisory experience, preferably in interpreting-related environment.
• Knowledge of deaf culture and interpreting professions.
• Familiarity with FCC Regulations and RID standards.
• Knowledge of IM Service, database, Internet, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing programs.
• Strong time management to handle multiple priorities.
• Budgeting/financial knowledge to track profitability.
• Effective communication with employees, clients, managers, public.
• Basic math for discounts, interest, commissions, percentages.
• Understanding of department operations and policies.
• HR management to hire/train/evaluate staff.
• Leadership to develop staff and set priorities.
• Interpersonal skills to relate with staff, customers, and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide American Sign Language interpreting on the VRS platform.
• Oversee daily interpreting operations including call centers, at-home, and community interpreting.
• Supervise ~35 interpreters and manage performance reviews.
• Coordinate scheduling and hiring with HR and Recruiting.
• Approve leaves and timekeeping for interpreters.
• Report team performance, efficiency, and quality to Regional Manager.
• Ensure open, welcoming, inclusive culture within Interpreting Operations.
• Collaborate with support management on department initiatives.
• Bridge gaps by supporting partners and colleagues as needed.
