Job summary

OSU-Oklahoma City invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor position in ASL Interpretation. The successful candidate will instruct and guide students toward professional interpreting skills, combining theory and practical training to prepare students for diverse settings.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Interpretation or related field; fluency in ASL with 5+ years interpreting experience; ability to develop curriculum and supervise practical exercises; knowledge of NIC/CDI/QAST

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interpretation, Translation Studies, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Deaf Studies, or a related field.
  • Must be fluent in ASL and have worked with deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • Professional Interpreter with 5+ years of active interpreting practice in ASL (simultaneous and consecutive).
  • Experience teaching interpretation at college level or professional training programs.
  • Curriculum development and leadership in an academic discipline; Qualified faculty per accrediting guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system.
  • Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives and grading procedures for all courses.
  • Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
  • Complete all mandatory training.
  • Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
