Job summary

Schoolforce Solutions in South Carolina is seeking five talented American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for the school year.

The role offers an hourly rate of $42.00–$56.00 with pay for overtime at 1.5x beyond 40 hours and benefits including insurance and paid holidays.

You will interpret in classrooms, support communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and staff, maintain confidentiality, and stay current with best practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Certification through RID or equivalent preferred.
• SC Educational Interpreter credential required by SCDE.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Fingerprint clearance & background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in classroom, small groups, and school settings.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers using ASL and other methods as appropriate.
• Interpret instructional content, classroom discussions, meetings, and school activities.
• Adapt interpretation style to match language level and needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective communication access.
