Job summary

Amergis is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. The interpreter translates spoken language into ASL and vice versa to provide equal access to classroom instruction and discussions.

Requirements include proficiency in ASL, an associate or bachelor’s degree in interpreting or related field, and applicable state certifications or assessments as required.

Qualifications

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Associate or Bachelor degree in interpreting, Deaf studies, or related field preferred
• State Board Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable)
• RID certification (as applicable)
• Complies with professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire/PPD or chest X-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
