ASL In Person Interpreter - Indianapolis, IN (Contractor)

Job Title: American Sign Language Interpreter
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Job Type: On-site

Position Overview: The American Sign Language (ASL) Medical in-person interpreter is responsible for handling local onsite interpreting sessions to serve our deaf and hard of hearing community and Community Healthcare practitioners in a variety of industries such as Healthcare clinical settings. This is a unique opportunity that will offer onsite in-person visits.

Job Functions:

1. Provide effective interpreting sessions in a professional manner.
2. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
3. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
4. Respect for and understanding of our deaf and hard of hearing clients, culture and preferences.
5. Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
6. Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the sessions.
7. Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

Qualifications:

1. Interpreter must possess fluent American Sign Language and spoken English language skills.
2. Excellent listening and retention to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
3. Extensive knowledge of RID Code of Professional Conduct.
4. Must possess one of the CI/CT, NAD IV or above, NIC, BEI national certifications.
5. HIPAA compliant work environment and setting.
6. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Associate or Bachelor degree in Sign Language preferred but not required.
