Job summary

oneworldglobalservices in Manhattan, NY is seeking a US-based ASL interpreter for both VRI-On Demand and Onsite assignments. You will interpret between ASL and spoken English in a variety of settings to support deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

Candidates may hold an associate or bachelor’s degree and an interpreter certification is preferred. Strong computer skills, independent work ethic and teamwork are essential, along with professionalism and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

Language: American Sign Language (ASL) US-Based Interpreter

Location: Manhattan, NY

We are currently looking for both VRI-On Demand and Onsite US-Based ASL interpreter. An ASL interpreter will provide sign language interpretation services in a variety of settings, including working with a variety of individuals who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and/or oral, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their needs.

Candidate Qualifications

• Experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)
• Associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required)
• Interpreter certification
• Understanding of deaf culture, social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing persons, history of education for students who have various levels of hearing loss, and current pedagogical trends for Proven interpersonal skills when working with deaf and hearing impaired persons, communication service providers, instructors and administrators
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic scheduling and internet
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Responsibilities

• Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• Maintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
• Adhere to guidelines for NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
• Accurately complete assigned tasks/duties, projects and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
• Possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
• Possess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, highly regulated environment
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an on-going basis
