Job summary

The Los Angeles Superior Court is seeking a Court Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL) to provide in-person or remote interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing jurors and participants. This role supports accessibility and ADA language access across court functions.

The position is full-time (A-Status), not eligible for telework, and requires a valid ASL Certified Court Interpreter certificate issued by the Judicial Council of California.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid certificate as an ASL Court Interpreter issued by the Judicial Council of California.
• Experience providing interpretation services for hearing-impaired individuals.
• Ability to interpret in-person and via remote videoconferencing and maintain ADA language access standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation services for hearing-impaired jurors in various settings, including orientation and jury deliberation.
• Deliver language access services to deaf and/or hard-of-hearing persons as mandated by the ADA.
• Interpret in-person or via remote videoconferencing with accuracy and professional conduct.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Under supervision, Court Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL) performs a wide variety of ASL interpretation services, in person or via remote videoconferencing, for Los Angeles Superior Court. Incumbents provide interpretation services for hearing-impaired jurors in non-courtroom settings, such as orientation and jury deliberation, as well as provide language access services to deaf and/or hard-of-hearing persons as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

SALARY

Full-time (A-Status): $8,373.18 - $8,603.36Monthly
Part-time (C-Status): $366.38 Daily

Hourly as needed (F-Status): $45.80 Hourly
