Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise seeks an ASIC Verification/Design Engineering Intern to join the Aruba ASIC team. The role is hybrid, with an expectation to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office and contribute to next‑gen networking chips.

You will learn from senior ASIC/VLSI engineers with projects spanning RTL/Physical Design, verification, and tool development during the summer. Strong fundamentals and eagerness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a 4-year engineering/CS/EE degree program.
• At least 3rd year of engineering completed by 2027/2028.
• Interest in ASIC design and verification in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• RTL/Physical Design support and development tasks.
• Pre-Silicon verification and post-silicon verification activities.
• Formal verification work and script/tool development.
• Schedule breakdowns, documentation, and other duties as needed.
• Collaborate with senior ASIC/VLSI engineers on project goals.

Job Description:

This intern will be working with the HPE Aruba ASIC development team on next generation products. You will have a summer project that will be used for/in the development activities of current or future ASIC’s. This ASIC team develops state of the art, world class Networking Chips for the marketplace and our customers. We are looking for individuals that have the desire and ability to contribute at this level. The intern will be working with and learning from the senior members of the ASIC / VLSI team. Responsibilities may include RTL/Physical Design, Pre-Silicon verification; post-silicon verification; Formal Verification; Script &/or Tool development; schedule breakdowns, document generation, and several other possible duties. Several assignments are possible, so final alignment will be based on student skills and business needs.

Education & Experience:

• Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year University/College pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3rd Year of engineering courses completed (December 2027 or May 2028 degree completion).

Knowledge & Skills:

• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PERL, TCL or equivalent)
• Experience with hardware design
• Experience with software programming languages (C; C++)
• Experience with Verilog
• Strong interest in high-tech and a passion for learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Time management skills and working with strict deadlines.
• A collaborative, solution-focused mindset and overall sense of urgency.
• Experience with AI tools.

Impact/Scope:

• Four-year university students who are working in a technical internship role at the company during their study or in summer breaks between university semesters.
