Job summary

Republic Services in the United States is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to inspect and repair heavy equipment, compactors, and light service trucks, performing preventive maintenance on engines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. You will diagnose problems from machine condition reports, coordinate with operators, record part usage and times, and ensure safety policies are followed.

The role requires ASE certifications and a mechanical trade school background.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification evidenced advanced knowledge in heavy equipment systems.
• At least 1 year of experience as a technician working on heavy equipment.
• Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree is required.
• Certificate in electrical diagnostics is preferred.
• Applicable ASE certifications are expected.
• Experience with Tier 4 emission systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment.
• Performs repair or preventive maintenance on electrical, diesel and gasoline vehicles, including compactors and heavy equipment.
• Repairs engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulic, electrical and suspension systems.
• Interprets equipment condition reports, communicates defects to supervisor and operators.
• Completes paperwork documenting parts usage and times, aligns with timecards.
• Records hours, fuel and oil usage and inputs data into fleet management software.
