Job summary

A.T. Still University’s ASDOH Hygiene Faculty seeks an Instructor to provide expert dental hygiene patient care and Radiology instruction in ASDOH clinics and labs.

You will engage students through lectures, seminars, and clinical supervision, upholding a humane, diverse educational environment. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of dental hygiene experience, a valid Arizona dental hygiene license, and a local anesthesia license, with a strong clinical education background.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in dental hygiene patient care.
• Valid Arizona dental hygiene license and local anesthesia license.
• Experience in clinical education preferred.
• Highly skilled in dental radiology, dental hygiene, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage in Radiology department acquiring images and teaching practices to students.
• Conduct patient care, teaching, scholarship, service and support of the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU.
• Provide direct patient care and clinical supervision as a dental hygienist in CCUs or ASDOH clinics; carry out lectures, Radiology Labs, seminars, preclinical and clinical assignments.
• Participate in committees, faculty governance, professional societies and associations, and community events.
• Pursue scholarly activity as workload allows.
• Cover Radiology department and coach students in imaging and teaching practices.
• Deliver direct dental hygiene services and patient care in ASDOH clinics.
• Coordinate care with CCUs and Dean for Clinic Operations to implement periodontal maintenance for Pre- doctoral patients.
• Interact with students while performing hygiene duties and simulating the office practice setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote an atmosphere of respect, collegiality, commitment to diversity and social justice, and humanistic learning environment.
• Provide coverage in the Radiology department acquiring images and teaching practices to the students.
• Conduct patient care, teaching, scholarship, service and in support of the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU.
• Provide direct patient care and clinical supervision as a dental hygienist in the CCUs or other ASDOH clinics; effectively carry out lecture, teaching Radiology Labs, seminar, preclinical and clinical assignments as assigned.
• Participate in committees, faculty governance, professional societies and associations, and community events.
• Scholarship - As workload allows, establish and maintain activity in area of expertise.
• Covering Radiology department and acquiring images and teaching practices to the students.
• Deliver direct dental hygiene services and patient care to patients in the ASDOH clinics.
• Coordinate care with CCUs and Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinic Operations to implement a periodontal maintenance program to support ASDOH Predoctoral patients.
• Interacting with the students while performing hygiene duties and simulation of the office practice setting.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Three to five years' experience in the provision of dental hygiene patient care.
• Valid Arizona dental hygiene and local anesthesia license
• Experience in clinical education preferred.
• Must be highly skilled in dental Radiology, dental hygiene, and patient care.
