Description

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU - ASDOH) is seeking a full-time exempt General Dentist for the CCU Clinic at the Assistant Professor level. This is a 0.8 FTE position on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Assistant Professor will conduct teaching, patient care, scholarly, and service activities to support the mission, goals, and objectives of the School and University. The primary responsibility is to facilitate students' clinical experience, from foundational knowledge and clinical skills to demonstrating competency in patient-centered care that integrates biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. General: Promote an atmosphere of respect, collegiality, diversity, social justice, and a humanistic learning environment.
  2. General: Conduct teaching, scholarship, service, and patient care aligned with the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU.
  3. Teaching: Provide clinical supervision in the CCUs or other clinics; carry out lectures, seminars, preclinical, and clinical assignments effectively.
  4. Service: Participate in committees, faculty governance, professional societies, community events.
  5. Scholarship: Establish and maintain activity in your area of expertise as workload allows.
  6. Clinical Supervision: Supervise predoctoral dental students in patient care activities within general dentistry scope.
  7. Documentation: Complete documentation on student performance; review and approve Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  8. Clinic Policy Enforcement: Enforce infection control, quality improvement, risk management, recordkeeping, and safety protocols.
  9. Patient Care: Provide direct patient care supporting community service, efficient clinic operations, and student education, especially for complex cases.
  10. Student Instruction: Instruct students in the simulation clinic; collaborate on student performance assessments.
  11. Assignments: Carry out lectures, seminars, clinical responsibilities, including student assessments.
  12. Mentorship: Be available for student mentoring and consultation.
  13. Other Responsibilities: As assigned.
Experience & Education:
  1. DDS or DMD degree required.
  2. Three to five years of experience in private practice or advanced graduate training as a general dentist or prosthodontist.
  3. Experience in clinical dental teaching preferred.
  4. Knowledge of current techniques and skills in general dentistry.
  5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  6. Self-directed and proactive approach.
  7. Highly skilled in general dentistry.
  8. Eligible for Arizona Dental License.
