The ideal candidate has GED, CKD/HD experience, and scheduling exposure, with bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Clinical CKD/Hemodialysis experience preferred.
  • One year of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patients for vascular access procedures and other surgical procedures as directed.
  • Receives calls and referrals and provides general assistance for the vascular surgery program.
  • Ensures required tests are completed and results obtained prior to surgery.
  • Obtains patient records in a timely manner prior to scheduled procedures.
  • Provides patient education regarding pre and post-procedures at AKDHC Access Center.
  • Coordinates dialysis treatments to avoid missed treatments and potential hospitalization.
  • Coordinates transportation for patient transports.
  • Triages dialysis unit calls related to vascular access procedures and referrals.
  • Collaborates with Vascular Access Coordinator for follow-up.

ASC Surgical Scheduler - Biltmore Access Surgery Center

Access Surgery Center (ASC) Surgical Schedulercoordinates the scheduling of pre-renal or chronic kidney disease patients who are in need of vascular access repair, creation of a permanent vascular access, or other surgical procedures performed as directed. This scheduler will schedule all patients in a timely manner and coordinate treatments in accordance with established standards of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules patients for necessary vascular access procedures, vascular access creations, and other surgical procedures as directed.
  • Receives phone calls and computer referrals and provides general assistance in support of the vascular surgery program.
  • Ensures that all required tests are completed and results are obtained prior to surgery.
  • Obtains patient records in a timely manner prior to scheduled procedures.
  • Provides patient education regarding pre and post-procedures performed at AKDHC Access Center.
  • Updates and maintains the Medical Manager Access Referral Program and Doc Talk referral base.
  • Coordinates patient dialysis treatments in an attempt to avoid missed treatments and potential hospitalization for patients utilizing AKDHC Access Center.
  • Coordinates with transportation for all patient transports.
  • Triages dialysis unit phone calls as related to vascular access procedures and referrals.
  • Work closely with the Vascular Access Coordinator to ensure patients receive adequate follow-up on their dialysis accesses.
  • Participates in meeting budgeted annual goals and is actively involved on directed committees

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Clinical experience with Chronic Kidney Disease or Hemodialysis clinical experience preferred.
  • One year of surgery scheduling experience preferred
  • Fluent speaking, writing, and reading capabilities in Spanish and English a plus

Language Ability

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer and Medical software knowledge.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Current Basic Life Support
