Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Woburn, MA is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos). No prior lab experience is required; on‑the‑job training will teach asbestos analysis using PLM, PCM, TEM and routine lab practices.

This full‑time position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, with a pay rate of $20 per hour and a benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k), PTO and a flexible spending account.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy or petrographic training preferred.
• Some laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM.
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system.
• Perform quality control practices per QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
