Equiliem is seeking an Asbestos Defense Litigation Paralegal in New York City to support attorneys in asbestos-related defense matters, focusing on NY insurance defense litigation. Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing electronic court filings.

Candidates should have direct asbestos defense experience, strong knowledge of NY CPLR, excellent writing and organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple matters.

Qualifications

• Direct hands-on experience supporting asbestos defense litigation matters.
• Thorough working knowledge of New York CPLR and civil litigation procedures.
• Experience coordinating discovery, document production, and litigation-related authorizations.
• Experience with NYSCEF, PACER, and electronic court filing platforms.
• Strong legal writing, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work onsite in New York City at least 4 days per week after training period.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys in managing asbestos-related defense litigation matters throughout the case lifecycle.
• Draft, review, and prepare pleadings, discovery responses, discovery demands, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Prepare correspondence addressing outstanding discovery requests and disputes.
• Review legal documents for accuracy and compliance with procedural requirements.
• Conduct legal research and cite-check briefs and other submissions.
• Coordinate document collection, review, and production in response to discovery requests.
• Draft and coordinate responses to discovery demands and track ongoing obligations.
• Process authorizations, monitor documentation, and coordinate follow-ups.
• Analyze and organize supporting documents and exhibits for litigation use.
• Maintain accurate case files and calendar deadlines across multiple matters.
• Apply CPLR and court procedures to support timely filings.
• Initiate and maintain legal holds and document preservation.
• Prepare and submit court filings via NYSCEF and PACER.
