Job summary

LaGuardia Community College in Queens, part of The City University of New York, seeks an ASAP Associate Director of Advisement to oversee day‑to‑day guidance for students in the ASAP program.

Reporting to the ASAP Director, you will supervise advisors, ensure timely enrollment data, monitor performance benchmarks, and coordinate summer programming while developing innovative advisement initiatives, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in an appropriate discipline and six years related experience.
• Experience in higher education or working with college students strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working in special programs and/ or with a cohort model is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervises ASAP advisors in the delivery of comprehensive advisement and support services to promote student engagement, persistence, and academic success.
• Oversees the timely entry of student enrollment, advisement contacts, and program participation data in the ASAP database and other designated systems.
• Reviews and assesses advisor reports and student data regularly to monitor progress toward ASAP success benchmarks, identify trends, and determine areas requiring additional student support or intervention.
• Oversees ongoing training, coaching, support, and professional development for ASAP advisement staff to strengthen advising practices and promote consistent, high‑quality student service.
• Monitors changes to college advisement procedures, academic policies, and related practices and ensures timely communication and implementation among ASAP advisement staff.
• Oversees the planning, coordination, and implementation of ASAP summer programming, including summer course enrollment, workshops, the ASAP Summer Institute, and other special student activities and initiatives.
• Supports the ASAP Director with required program reporting, assessment, and data‑informed planning, and collaborates with college departments and other stakeholders to advance program goals and student success.
• Collaborate with other ASAP Associate Directors and advisors regarding academic interventions.
• Develop and support innovative academic support initiatives.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
