Job summary

Rincon Consultants is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to provide on-site support for projects across California, including Central Coast, SoCal, and NorCal regions. The role prefers candidates with professional archaeological field experience and familiarity with survey, site recording, evaluation, and monitoring.

Responsibilities include assisting Project Managers, preparing field documentation, and collaborating with clients and Native American representatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field.
• At least one (1) year of professional experience identifying, documenting, and evaluating cultural resources of significance (A Master's degree may be used in lieu of one year of field experience).
• Must be able to work independently and make on-the-ground decisions during monitoring and other fieldwork.
• Experience with Trimble and/or Garmin GPS data collection.
• Must be able to hike 10-12 miles per day in often difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions while carrying 25 lbs.
• As-Needed position - Must be available to work extended field rotations (10-12 days at a time).
• Ability to travel without restrictions and have reliable means of transportation.
• Strong organizational skills.

Compensation

The base hourly range for this temporary position is $24.00–$37.00 per hour. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Individuals offered employment must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.
