Job summary

Harris County Universal Services is seeking a Network Engineer with a focus on Aruba wireless to design, implement, and optimize enterprise networks for the county. You will work with engineering, facilities, and construction teams and participate in on-call rotations to respond to incidents outside standard hours.

The role requires site surveys, RF analysis, capacity planning, and ensuring security and reliability across LAN/WAN environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, CS or equivalent.
• Five years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Three years designing and supporting Aruba wireless solutions.
• Experience with wireless site surveys, RF design, and WLAN deployments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, network security, and authentication.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support Aruba wireless infrastructure (Aruba Central, Mobility Controllers, APs, ClearPass).
• Perform wireless site surveys, RF analysis, capacity planning, and coverage validation.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize wireless and network performance across enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with engineering, facilities, architects, and construction teams on projects.
• Review construction drawings and low-voltage designs for network compliance.
• Develop wireless designs, AP placement plans, and network infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of network and wireless systems.
• Support LAN, WAN, routing, switching, and network security infrastructure.
• Maintain network documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Handle on-call tickets for network-related issues.
