Job description

The Creative Capital business unit ensures that the council is set up to reflect the significance and effective delivery of the Aho Tini 2030: Arts, Culture and Creativity Strategy that is designed to further support the arts and the artists in the Capital and we are hiring!

About the role:

ArtSplash is a week-long festival, held every two years, that celebrates tāmariki and rangatahi on the big stage. Young people aged 5-13 can experience performing in world-class venues in dance and choir concerts, as well as wearable arts showcases and visual art projects. In 2025, ArtSplash will be running 25-28 August. Read more on our website .

The ArtSplash Day Out (ASDO) is a new facet to ArtSplash which is being rolled out in 2025. ASDO is a series of itinerary experiences offered by local arts organisations to give students the chance to experience all the artistic delights our city has to offer.School groups will come into the city for their dress rehearsal in the morning, engage in the ArtSplash Day Out in the afternoon, before returning to their venue to perform in their concert in the evening.

Our ArtSplash Hosts will play a crucial part in guiding school groups around Pōneke during ArtSplash week - keeping schools on track and ensuring they have an amazing day out in the city.

What you will do:

Our ArtSplash Hosts will be required to:

  • Attend orientation, where they will learn and understand the locations of the ArtSplash Day Out activities and how to safely guide your assigned school group.
  • During the event, meet and greet your assigned school in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Guide your assigned school to each pre-determined activity according to the scheduled times.
  • Assist larger school groups with travelling between locations.
  • Assist school groups at major road crossings.
  • Work closely with the event's Creative Producer and Assistant Creative Producer.
  • Ensure schools return to concert venues at the required time for their scheduled concert/dress rehearsals.

Key Dates:

Applicants must be available for ALL of the following dates. If you cannot make all of these dates, your application may still be considered but we are giving priority to candidates who can work all of the following:

Orientation: Monday 18 August and Tuesday 19 August (9am- 3pm)

ArtSplash week: Monday 24 August - Thursday 28 August (8am - 6pm)

Key skills/Qualifications:

We're looking for applicants who:

  • Are passionate about working with young people

  • Have strong communication skills
  • Skills in pastoral care
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Adaptability and flexibility
