Job Description

Position Title: Arts & Enrichment Line Dance Instructor I - II
Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Application Deadline: Ongoing/Open (rolling review)

Salary: $17.05 - $22.75 per hour

Position Summary

Under the close supervision of the Arts and Enrichment Coordinator, this position teaches art and enrichment classes for all ages, including specialized arts, enrichment classes, birthday parties, and offsite events. The primary focus is on teaching line dance classes, with potential to teach other classes based on expertise. Classes are held at multiple locations, mostly on weekdays, with possible evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties
  • Plan and instruct art and enrichment classes tailored to varying skill levels.
  • Maintain course records and rosters.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, patrons, and coordinators.
  • Demonstrate dances and provide practice methods for students.
  • Promote arts and enrichment programs.
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are available, set up, and clean up after classes.
  • Inspect and report on equipment safety.
  • Manage supply inventory responsibly.
  • Teach in a creative, energized manner, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Enforce safety policies and respond to emergencies appropriately.
  • Respond courteously to inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently.
  • Report hazards and communicate issues to supervisors.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and offsite classes.
  • Travel to various locations for classes and events.
  • Maintain punctuality and substitute when necessary.

Qualifications
Arts & Enrichment Instructor I
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in line dance.
  • Experience teaching art/enrichment preferred.
Arts & Enrichment Instructor II
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of professional line dance teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching art/enrichment preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Certifications in AED/CPR and First Aid are preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required within 30 days; must be insurable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques and methodologies.
  • Positive interaction skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to create engaging, safe learning experiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and multitasking ability.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Primarily indoor classroom work, with occasional outdoor activities. Must be able to perform physical activities related to art and dance instruction, lift weights up to 75 pounds with assistance, and handle equipment and tools. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required.
